Clarencetown – Williams River

By Richard Hassall

A group of around a dozen gathered at Clarencetown with the target being the bass that frequent the Wiliams River.

Most attendees caught one or two bass mainly on surface flies like gurglers or poppers. Most members fished from kayaks, whilst there were also 3 boats on the river for the outing. The river had high flow following a wet January and paired with a low barometer each fish had to be earned.

Great company with good food and drink made for a very enjoyable and social weekend. It was great to see Bob hitting the water and Murray taking him under his wing. They had success upstream late afternoon. The following morning Jeff took Mick out for a fish in his boat. They also had some success, both catching fish and with no boat incidents or floating hats. 🙂

Thanks to Janice and Mac for the excellent breakfast of the mandatory bacon and egg rolls and to those that attended who made the outing a success.
