Swansea Salmon

By Richard Hassall

When I was asked to do a report on the salmon outing at Swansea a few months ago (June). I could not remember anything about it. John Roberts reminded me I caught a couple of Salmon. I had moved on for another fishing fix.

Looking back all I can really remember is 2 Arripis trutta. They were caught outside the break wall but inside the lee of moon island. Not far from a rotting whale a species I have not caught.

I was reminded of how good they are on fly and how fickle they can be. A seal as usual slowed the bite up and wind chop killed it. There was the usual prospecting in anticipation and looking for birds. It is always good to catch them on an eye fly I tied.

There were no other fish caught that I was aware of with average participation. Ken put on a good BBQ out of his four wheel drive slash mobile bistro in the car park.

That’s all from the fishing addict. P.s. I will try and find some lame photos that a passer by took as I could not find a partner in my small tinny.
